This repetition making-of will be a fine featurette in a Blu-beam bundle, however what’s it doing at a genuine film celebration?
A by-the-numbers making-of chronicling a standout amongst the most scaring film preparations of our day, Laurent Bouzereau’s Secrets of the Force Awakens will be entirely adequate as a featurette in the Blu-beam bundle for Star Wars Episode VII. As an offering at a genuine film celebration, however, it stinks of indecency on both sides: For Disney, taking an unneeded reputation support to the detriment of non mainstream movies looking for presentation somewhere else on the system (wasn’t planting an existence measured TIE warrior in Austin this week sufficiently gaudy?); and for SXSW, whose craving to have something to do with this social wonder has driven it to program something with no spot in the fest. As programming decisions go, the forces of offer out are solid with this one.
